LONDON - Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto pulled out of Cameroon's squad for the African Nations Cup on Thursday with a groin injury that will sideline him for three weeks.

The 25-year-old was substituted after 88 minutes of Spurs' 2-0 Premier League win over West Ham United on Monday and his club later informed the Cameroon FA of his injury.

Cameroon coach Paul LeGuen has called up Neuchatel Xamax defender Gilles Augustin Binya as Assou-Ekotto's replacement for the tournament which takes place in Angola from January 10 to 31.
